Thanks to my pup Henley I now get to take two walks a day. We can often be found meandering around the neighborhood- ok, really it's her power walking and me just trying to keep up. While we're still working on the walking bit, I do love to take different routes and explore new to me pockets of our community. Plus, I get to see all the beautiful greenery and flowers my neighbors have in their yards.
Along just such a walk this spring, I found a delightful bunch of brown cap mushrooms hidden among grass and dandelions.
Since I’ve been hard at work on my book, I’ve been trying not to take on new projects. But I just couldn't get the idea of these cute mushrooms out of my head! So after a week of thinking about it, I decided to sketch some ideas based on these photos. The sketches quickly turned into an embroidery that I fell in love with. And then of course a kit.
The Woodland Mushroom embroidery kit is an advanced stitch project. It uses an oval Beechwood hoop, rose colored cotton fabric, and 10 different embroidery stitches to create texture within this delightful pattern.
Also included in this kit are full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, a water soluble transfer pattern, backing materials, and full color printed instructions that have photo and written step-by-step details of how to create each stitch and where they go in the pattern.
I hope you have just as much fun stitching the Woodland Mushroom kit as I did creating it.
Happy stitching! — Melissa
