I'm thrilled to share I'll be teaching at the Sew Expo again this year! For a second year in a row I'll be sharing how you can create a variety of beginner-friendly and intermediate hand embroidery stitches in my classes. Like last year, the expo will be virtual so you can stitch, craft, and create all from the comfort of your own home.
Below are the classes I'll be teaching. You can sign up to stitch with me, starting January 11!
3D Blooming Wildflowers
Let’s create whimsical wildflowers! Learn to embroider a playful bunch of wildflowers in this online embroidery workshop with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two and a half hour, hands-on workshop covers a variety of beginner-friendly embroidery stitches and each attendee will receive a full kit. Kits include a wooden embroidery hoop, transfer design, sewing pins, an embroidery needle, full skeins of embroidery thread, a cream cotton fabric, pins, backing materials. This class will be held March 3 from 2-4:30pm and March 6 from 2-4:30pm.
Bee T-Shirt Embroidery
Have you ever wanted to add embroidery to your t-shirt? Well now you can! Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ in a workshop. You'll learn the leaf stitch, back stitch, satin stitch, and stem stitch to create this bee and leaf design, specifics of how to embroider on clothing, and tips and tricks to making your embroidered clothing last. This class will be held on March 3 from 5-7:30pm and March 5 from 2-4:30pm.
Stitch A Mini Landscape Pin
Wear your flair! That's right, in this hands-on class you'll learn how to stitch your own hand embroidered pin. You will receive a surprise pin shape and materials to create their own piece of wearable desert art. Fiber artist, Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ will share her hand embroidery expertise, tips, and tricks to help you create your own unique pin. Come with landscape design ideas in mind. This class will be held on March 4 from 11-1:30pm and March 6 from 8-10:30am.
Drawing With Thread
Have you ever wanted to try embroidery but aren’t sure where to start? In this beginning embroidery, you will learn classic and experimental hand sewing techniques to create drawings in thread. We will learn how to successfully sew several different embroidery stitches that will create unique surfaces, lines, and textures. The class will begin with introductions and check-in about everyone's skill level. We will start at the very beginning with how to select appropriate fabric for embroidery. This class will be held on the free stage on March 5 at 11am for a 45 minute demonstration.
