I'm thrilled to share that my third book, 3D Botanical Embroidery & Stumpwork has ben sent off to my publisher and is available for pre-order! After 4 months of work that felt like a fever dream, I hit the send button on all the content. It was a thrilling and relieving experience all at the same time.
After stitching landscapes and shoes in my first two embroidery books, I thought long and hard about what I wanted to write about, if I was going to write a third book. The inspiration for this book came from a very unlikely place, but if you know me, it'll totally make sense as well.
As I was reading (well listening to) a plethora of murder mystery audiobooks last summer, I started thinking about how many golden age murder mysteries used some kind of poison or plant to kill their victims. While I'd heard the poisons referenced many times and even could pin-point their symptoms before the detective stated the poison at times, I didn't know much about the plants that created these poisons. This had me doing a deep dive into poisonous plants.
What inspired the designs?
3D Botanical Embroidery and Stumpwork features 20 poisonous, carnivorous, and medicinal plants. This book combines my love of nature and my interest in murder mystery books in the prettiest way possible. Looking at the sample projects above (a flower ring, a botanical statement necklace, and a floral brooch) would you have ever guess that these flowers could poison, eat, or cure you?
What will be included in this book?
Much like my first and second books, How to Embroider Texture and Pattern and DIY Embroidered Shoes, this book will also walk you through everything from start to finish. I cover a wide variety of materials, a robust stitch glossary (over 50 stitches!), and various embroidery techniques like beading, stumpwork, raised stitching, Indian needle weaving, and Brazilian embroidery. 3D Botanical Embroidery and Stumpwork includes 20 detailed 3D embroidery patterns you can wear and display with tons of photos and step by step details.
So when can you get your hands on 3D Botanical Embroidery & Stumpwork?
My third book will be available October 2025! And for those of you that are already eagerly waiting, you can pre-order a copy through Amazon now!
