Lately I've been diving back into a technique I haven't used in a while, applique. It's been fun to play around with bits and pieces from my fabric scrap bin. And as I've been doing so, it's had me reminiscing about my childhood.
I'm pretty sure I have a scrap bin because my mom had a scrap bin. Admittedly, hers is 3x the size of mine, because she does way more sewing than me. And as a kid I remember rooting around in their for all sorts of treasures. I even made a scrappy quilt out of fabric scraps from that bin!
With all these wonderful childhood memories floating through my head, I thought it'd be fun to create a modern day applique and embroidery kit to share the fun of playing with fabrics.
The Plants + Shapes kit is like creating a collage with fabric. Each kit includes 4 cotton fabric swatches for you to cut into fabric shapes as well as detailing 4 different hand embroidery techniques to apply them to the fabric. If you've never tried applique before, this is an easy project to dip your toes into!
Kits also include full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, an embroidery needle, a beech wood embroidery hoop, sewing pins, felt, a sawtooth hook, and printed instructions with lots of photos.
Happy stitching! -Melissa
