Tulip Stitch
The tulip stitch create a tulip shaped flower on the front of the fabric. This stitch combines the fly stitch and detached chain stitch to create an interesting new stitch combination. Use this DIY video and step-by-step tutorial to learn how to embroider the tulip stitch.

Tulip Stitch Step-by-Step Tutorial
1. Start by bringing the needle up through the fabric, from the back to the front, at the top point of the tulip stitch. Then bring the needle back down in the hole of that stitch, creating an open loop on the front of the fabric.
2. Bring the needle up through the fabric inside the loop, at the base of the tulip. Gently tug the thread so that the loop is flush with the fabric. Create a straight stitch by bringing the needle down on the outside of the loop to hold it in place. This is similar to the detached chain or lazy daisy stitch, however, the straight stitch is longer.
3. Next add the V shapes to the tulip stitch. Bring the needle up through the fabric to the right of the link. Then slide the needle underneath the straight stitch of the link and bring the needle back down through the fabric on the other side of the link, parallel to where the opposite stitch started.
4. You can add multiple V's, fill in the inside of the tulip, and stitch in different colors for variations on the tulip stitch.
