1. The satin stitch creates a solid fill of smooth color with all the stitches being made in the same direction. Start by bring the needle up from the back of the fabric to the front at the bottom of the section. Create a straight stitch across to the other side of the section.

2. Continue adding satin stitches by bringing the needle up next to where the first stitch was started and then going across to the other side.
Tip: Satin stitches should be close together, almost like they’re hugging one another and fill the section in the same direction. It’s okay if they overlap.
