How to Embroider: Raised Seed Stitch- Video and Step by Step Tutorial

How to Embroidery: Raised Seed Stitch

Raised Seed Stitch

The raised seed stitch, also known as raised seeding, creates a raised loop on the front of the fabric. It's a great way to add dimensional texture to a display embroidery. I've used this for moss and fluffy clouds. Use this DIY video and step-by-step tutorial to learn how to embroider the raised seed stitch.

What you'll need to create the raised seed stitch:

Raised Seed Stitch Step-by-Step Tutorial

1. The raised seeding stitch is a variation on the seed stitch. This stitch looks like small stitches that are slightly raised from the fabric. This is a great way to add texture and fill in a space. Start by bringing your needle through your fabric, from the back to the front. Make a small stitch by going back down the fabric. Do not pull the thread flush with the fabric; instead, leave the thread so that it makes a small arc.

2. Next, bring your needle and thread up through the fabric a short distance away from the end of the stitch. Now make another short stitch in a different direction, ensuring the that each stitch is raised away from the fabric.

3. Continue making short stitches in different directions to fill in your desired space. To add even more texture, you can overlap your stitches.
