Long Tailed Fly Stitch Step-by-Step Tutorial
1. The long tailed fly stitch resembles the letter Y. Start by bringing the needle up through the fabric at the top corner of the fly stitch. Hold the thread towards the bottom of the V and bring the needle back down in the over corner of the fly stitch.
2. Gently pull the thread so that it creates an open loop on the front of the fabric.
3. Then bring the needle up at the base of the fly stitch and inside the loop of thread. Gently tug so that the thread loop becomes flush with the fabric, creating a V.
4. Now create the tail by bringing the needle down at the end of the Y stem.
