French Knot Stitch
The French knot stitch is a decorative embroidery stitch that makes a knot on the front of the fabric. It can be used on its own as a flower, bud, as texture on top of other stitches, or to fill in spaces. Use this DIY video and step-by-step tutorial to learn how to embroider the French knot stitch.

French Knot Stitch Step-by-Step Tutorial
1. French knots are great for adding detail and texture. To start, bring the threaded needle from the back of the fabric to the front. Lay your hoop on a flat surface. Hold your needle in your dominant hand and pinch the thread about 4 inches away from the fabric.
2. In between where you're pinching the thread and it's coming out of the fabric, wrap the thread taught around your needle two or three times. The more you wrap the thread, the bigger your knot will be.
3. Keeping the thread taught, bring the needle back down into the fabric, right next to where the thread is coming out.
4. Before pushing the needle through the fabric, gently tug the thread so that it's tightly wrapped around the needle and flush with the fabric. If the thread is loose and loopy, you will have a loose and loopy knot.
5. Then gently push the needle through the fabric and tug so that the thread forms a knot on the front of the fabric.
