A fabric slip is a stumpwork embroidery technique. It is a way to attach a piece of embroidery on top of another. The fabric slip is raised from the surface embroidery design creating additional depth and dimension. Use this DIY video and step-by-step tutorial to learn how to create a fabric slip.

Fabric Slip Step-by-Step Tutorial
1. Start by trimming the fabric around the fabric slip embroidery to ~1/4 inch away from the edge of the embroidery.
2. Using a thread color similar to the embroidery, create the running stitch around the embroidery between the embroidery and the fabric edge. Start the running stitch in the front of the embroidery.
3. Tug the running stitch so that it gathers around the back of the embroidery. You may also want to use whip stitches to flatten the fabric to the back of the embroidery.
4. Now use stab stitches to attach the fabric slip to the surface embroidery. These stitches should come up from the back of the surface embroidery fabric, go through the edge of the fabric slip, and then go back into the surface embroidery.
