December 2-4: Urban Craft Uprising Holiday Show
Urban Craft Uprising is Seattle’s largest indie craft show! At UCU, now in its 18th year, fans can choose from a wide variety of hand-crafted goods, including clothing of all types, jewelry, gifts, bags, wallets, buttons, accessories, aprons, children’s goods, toys, housewares, furniture, paper goods, candles, kits, geekery, art, food, and much, much more. Each show is carefully curated and juried to ensure the best mix of crafts and arts, along with quality and originality. This bi-annual show features over 150 vendors excelling in the world of craft, art and design. Hundreds of fans are lined up before our doors open to receive our famous swag bags full of goodies from our vendors and lovely sponsors. Not only can you peruse the aisles full of vendors, but there are also hourly crafty book signings and demos to check out. This show is free and fun for the whole family! December 3-4: Phinney Ridge Winter Show
We are pleased to announce that our beloved winter tradition will return in person in both of our buildings and parking lots for year 42! Come see makers that you have grown to love over the years and meet new ones, too. More event details.
December 6: Virtual Holiday Cactus Ornaments with Monster from 6:30-8:30pm
Looking to spend time with friends and family this holiday season? Why not stitch a quirky cactus ornament together in a workshop? Fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ will share how to create Santa hat and Christmas light cactus ornaments in an online two-hour, hands-on workshop. No embroidery experience needed. We’ll cover basic hand embroidery stitches so you can create your own playful cactus holiday ornament. These ornaments are perfect to hang on your tree or give as unique gifts. Each attendee will receive a workshop kit mailed to their door that includes an embroidery hoop, assorted full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, white fabric, an embroidery needle, felt, twine, and printed instructions. December 13: Virtual Succulent Ornaments with Jenny Lemons 5-7pm
Love the idea of a plant ornament but aren’t sure you can keep it alive? Why not stitch one! Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ in creating an embroidered succulent ornament. In this two-hour, hands-on, virtual class you’ll use the satin stitch, straight stitch, stem stitch, French knot, and couching stitch to create a delightful and sparkly holiday plant ornament embroidery. Class comes with a full kit that includes a 5-inch beechwood embroidery hoop, embroidery needle, full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, a transfer pattern, felt, a sawtooth hook, and printed instructions. December 14: Pacific Northwest Pendants at Wyldwood Creative from 6-8pm
Calling all pacific northwest lovers! Want to learn how to hand embroider a mountain range landscape pendant? Join Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a 2-hour workshop. This hands-on experience includes all the materials you’ll need to create a beautiful hand embroidered pendant. The workshop covers beginner friendly embroidery stitches such as the satin stitch, back stitch, reverse chain stitch, and long and short satin stitch. Each attendee will receive a full kit that includes a silver oval pendant setting, full skeins of DMC embroidery floss, an embroidery hoop, blue fabric, printed instructions, and an embroidery needle. December 29: Indigo Dye at Monster from 6:30-8:30pm
Explore the magic of indigo dyeing with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. Learn how to fold and bind fabric to create patterns and designs with indigo dye. You’ll love seeing the dye change colors, and your designs come to life! Each attendee will receive four cotton tea towels to create their own patterns and are also encouraged to bring additional materials to dye.
