April 10: Virtual Clothing Up-Cycling with Pattern Review from 12-2pm PST
Have you ever wanted to embroider your clothing? Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a hands-on workshop. Simply bring a garment to embroider and I'll help you get started. We'll discuss how to embroider different garments, such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, denim, and more. This class will also cover a handful of different embroidery stitches, recommended ways to transfer your design, and care for embroidered garments. This workshop is beginner-friendly and no prior embroidery experience is required.

April 12: Flower Pockets at Monster from 6:30-9pm PST
Give yourself some flowers! Embellish a bouquet into your pocket. This could be a shirt pocket, pants pocket, or even a dress pocket. Any pocket that needs florals. Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a hands-on, 2.5 hour workshop. She’ll show you how to get started with embroidering your clothing and cover stitches like the stem stitch, detached chain stitch, long and short satin stitch, leaf stitch, French knot, and bullion knot. A full kit is included with this class and comes with full skeins of DMC thread in various colors, transfer designs, a wood embroidery hoop, an embroidery needle, and printed instructions. Attendees will need to bring their own garments with a pocket to embroider.
April 13: Kid's Rainbow Embroidery at A Little Knitty from 12:30-2pm PST
Create a colorful rainbow. This class is perfect for first-time stitchers wanting to learn how to embroider a rainbow design. Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a 1.5-hour, hands-on workshop. We’ll cover the basics of embroidery as well as use the satin stitch to create a gorgeous rainbow. Each class participant will receive a full kit that includes cream cotton fabric, an embroidery hoop, a rainbow transfer design, full skeins of thread, a needle, a needle threader, and printed instructions. Adults are welcome to join their young stitcher for this class!

April 13: Magical Mushrooms with On the Eastside Events at Big Block Brewing from 6:30-8pm PST
Let’s stitch magical mushrooms! Learn to embroider a playful bunch of fungi in this embroidery workshop with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This 1.5 hour, hands-on workshop covers a variety of beginner-friendly embroidery stitches such as the satin stitch, back stitch, reverse chain stitch, and French knot. Each attendee will receive a full kit that includes a wooden embroidery hoop, mushroom transfer designs, an embroidery needle, full skeins of embroidery thread, cream cotton fabric, backing materials, and printed instructions. Plus a drink of your choice included.
April 16: Positive Plants at The Volunteer Park Conservatory from 10:30-12pm PST
The Friends of the Conservatory is delighted to host Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for this embroidery workshop. Melissa's amazing kits are featured in our palm house gift shop and we wanted to host a hands on experience of crafty togetherness. In this class we’ll use hand dyed indigo fabric and choose from four phrases (You are loved, you are magic, you are enough, or you belong here) or create your own to stitch among leaves. Melissa will share how to prep your hoop, transfer your pattern, and use the back stitch, stem stitch, and lazy daisy stitch to create your own positive plant design. All materials for class are included: a wooden embroidery hoop, indigo dyed cotton fabric, full skeins of DMC embroidery thread, embroidery needle, 4 pattern options, transfer paper, felt, sawtooth hook, and printed instructions. April 26: Indigo Dye at Monster from 6:30-8:30pm PST
Explore the magic of indigo dyeing with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. Learn how to fold and bind fabric to create patterns and designs with indigo dye. You’ll love seeing the dye change colors, and your designs come to life! Each attendee will receive four cotton tea towels to create their own patterns and are also encouraged to bring additional materials to dye. This class can get messy, so please wear clothing you don’t mind getting a little dye on. Save your spot for class here.
April 29: Rainbow Hats at Quilting Mayhem from 10:30am-12:30pm PST
Wear a colorful rainbow! You can learn to hand stitch a whimsical rainbow baseball hat. Join fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ for a two-hour, hands-on workshop and stitch a rainbow cap. We’ll use rainbow colors and the seed stitch, lazy daisy stitch, fly stitch, reverse chain stitch, and the pekinese stitch during class to create a gorgeous rainbow. This class is great for stitchers who have some embroidery experience, and all are welcome. Each class participant will receive a full kit that includes a blue adjustable baseball hat (one-size fits most), rainbow transfer design, full skeins of thread, a needle, and printed instructions.
April 30: Floral Embroidery Basics at A Little Knitty from 1-3pm PST
Flower power time! Learn to embroider flowers in this hands-on embroidery basics workshop with fiber artist Melissa Galbraith of MCreativeJ. This two-hour class covers a variety of beginner-friendly embroidery stitches like the satin stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, detached chain stitch, leaf stitch, and French knot. Each attendee will receive a full kit that includes a wooden embroidery hoop, floral transfer designs, embroidery needle, full skeins of embroidery thread, a yellow pattern fabric, backing materials, and printed instructions.
