I've been keeping a pretty BIG secret! I'm terrible with secrets, but somehow I haven't really spilled the beans (too much) about this yet. Shocking, I know! Here it is:
3D Botanicals and Stumpwork Embroidery Book
This fall, I sent my third DIY embroidery book off to my publisher! Yes, you read that right, my third embroidery book. Never in my life did I think I would be writing these words.
This third embroidery book pushes the boundaries of 3D embroidery. It uses techniques from stumpwork, Brazilian, and Indian embroidery, takes embroidery out of the embroidery hoop and turns them into sculptural and wearable creations.
It was a challenge and exciting experience to see the vision of this book come to life! And to think it all started from reading books myself.
The inkling for my third book came to me when I was reading A Botanist's Guide to Parties and Poisons by Kate Khavari. This playful murder mystery is set in the early 1920s when a female botanist must solve a murder at department and ropes in a fellow colleague. There were tons of plant inspiration, a little love interest, and all over an entertaining mystery. This book got me thinking- I love murder mysteries and figuring out why the murderer does what they do. Many of the mysteries I love are set in the early 1900s and the murderer uses some kind of poison. But where do these poisons come from? PLANTS!
You'll have so much fun creating poisonous, medicinal, and carnivorous plants with my third book. And like my other books you'll find tons of photos, step-by-step instruction, and details to walk you through the entire process.
I'll share more on this upcoming book as it progresses through the publishing process. As of right now, my third embroidery book is set to publish in Fall 2025 with Fox Chapel Publishing.
